Normally this little math problem comes with a spreadsheet that is password protected. The answer is the password. But that doesn't work very well on a blog so I'll just provide you with the answer later.
This is a 5th grade math problem. This is not a trick question. So the answer isn't "buses have no legs!" or "the front legs of a cats are called arms!".
There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?
** The bus has no driver. (he jumped out just before the bus drove off a cliff. don't worry, the cats make it out just fine.)

uhhhhh.... 70?
dear lord, i'm going to feel so dumb if i got that wrong. i mean a FIFTH grade math problem?? although come to think of it, i lost miserably at the "are you smarter than a 5th grader?" game...
i will assume you are asking this as a math problem and not a riddle? because theorethically, buses don't have legs, they have wheels...
regardless, my math gets me to 10990 legs altogether?
not a riddle, trace. :) that's why the question is "how many legs are 'in' the bus..." not "on" the bus.
10,990 legs if their backpacks are in the bus.
14 legs if the backpacks are at home.
Penny and Pebbles asked if they can have the cats names, they think one of the big cats could be their mom ;-)
does a bus fit 7 girls and almost 3000 cats?
I agree with Chris and Angie. 10990 if the backpacks are in the bus.
